Melissa Hubbell (She/Her)

With over nine years of experience in animal welfare at Animal Humane New Mexico, first as an Adoption Advisor and later managing their Community Pet Support programs, Melissa is a passionate advocate for animal well-being. She deeply understands the importance of the human-animal bond.Melissa's background in journalism enhances her ability to communicate effectively and raise awareness about critical issues facing pets and their owners today. She recently finished a 9-month Animal Chaplaincy program and is now an ordained animal chaplain through the Compassion Consortium. At home, Melissa cares for two senior dogs: Daisy, a former research beagle and Gertie, a blind beagle adopted from Española Humane. Both inspire her daily. In her spare time, she enjoys cross stitch & crochet and is an avid viewer of BBC Masterpiece Theater. She is excited to be a part of expanding the reach of LSCG’s programs and helping underserved people and their pets build healthier futures.
